Volvo 740Turbo Stock differential, stock block, stock injectors
11.8 second pass by LinuxMan on Turbobricks.com the only mod is a 16 valve D0HC head (instead of the 8 valve SOHC) and im not sure but i think he's running the stock computer!

Yes stock T03, but the thing is 16valves TURBO engines where never available in america, only in europe, the engine was the redblock b234GT and also the b204GT and FT(but these are still very very rare, only a select few countries got these models *all the ones shown below but turbo*). Here in america, we got the 16 valve heads in most 740/760/780 and 940/960 GLE models but again never turbo'd... So the trick is putting the 16 valve head which is a direct bold on, then you have to add a second tensioner, as the block has a single tensionner for the SOHC 8valve... So you need another for the DOHC 16 valve... All that is simple and easy... the trick trick trickkkkkY part is: The mother F#Cking exhaust manifold which minimizes Turbo size as its on the passenger side, and the 16valve head gives an angle so you are very restrained in space (its still easy for us, if such conversion is to be made in england or other LHD countries, you have even less space because of the power steering and water pump locations)
And since the turbo 16v were so rare you can barely get this exhaust manifold even from Volvo... So obviously custom exhaust manifold and oil returns.

Ahh how much boost does a stock one run? and how much did he run? Are the gains of the 16v a lot over the 8v?

lol half a engine is stock. the other isnt...
looked like it was on slicks also? good time tho for a none stock car.and far from stock. |

I wanna know how the stock computer that has a burned in program to run a sohc 8v motor can come close to compensating for the changes to a 16v dohc motor. That car is FAR from stock. head change, added boost......we need more info on this car, 11.8's out of that car is FAR from stock.

changing plus is a mod.as if it was on stock plugs it wouldnt work.therefor they need upgraded ones to work.the same with modding the boost is a mod also and differnt ECU..that car is FAR from stock.was it on stock tyres also?
a stock car is stock from factory.anything added to make it faster means it is no longer stock! |

^right, but the PCM will have to compebsate for added fuel, added pressures, add or pull timing and that will confuse the shit out of it I would think. I guess you could tune it, but I would think that it would require a new PCM. And a boost controlled is a mod, running a stock boost level and running an 11.8 would be impressive, but who knows how much boost it really takes??? I mean c'mon, stock turbo sport compacts only usually see 12-19 psi of boost on a 4 banger motor, to get those suckers to really perform and start kicking ass they normally are near 30 psi of boost, which is a huge difference in power.

Putting proper oil and making sure all is good makes you a tuner? 01mmmz28 You would be surprised of how much you can get out of a stock volvo, Stock computer's restriction biggest ***** is fuel cut, because of the air the car provides, but if you simply put a different STOCK volvo larger Air mass Meter it is corrected, the computer doesent even know the difference as its plug and play, so it sucks twice as much air just because the AMM is larger.

kirk put the new zo6 ZR1/SS stock super charger on your LS1.and u will have the fastest stock ls1 in the world.
