Default Autotech 850-R vs Saab 9-3 SSR

Saw this on Volvospeed.com the other day.

That Saab has been on tremek before. Here's the link for that for those who missed it.

Nice little vid, too bad they didnt show the times it looked like the volvo staged a bit earlier, but none the less both very fast cars. Im waiting to take my saab to the track, 9000 2.3 turbo, 3in all the way back and 17psi.

Here is a link for that saab, so you can find more info on it. I didn't check to see if the saab linked still worked since I already had the video. Both cars are in the 500hp range. I believe the volvo runs mid 11's. Anyways Autotech just built a 709hp Volvo, but no runs as of yet. They used an engine dyno, so that's not wheel power. It's sure to be the fastest FWD Volvo ever.

zmefly, do you have any pics of your car? I was shopping for a Saab 9-3 Viggen or even just a turbo model, but decided on the Volvo. The Viggen and the T5 put up similar numbers, so probably would've been happy either way. I hear the 2.3 liter saabs can handle a lot of power on the stock internals. But I haven't really done much research on them. My dad has a 9-5, it's not the Aero but still a great car.

Yeah, my sister has a viggen convertible, awesome pull for a stock car. But if you bought a saab to mod, make it a 93-98' 9000 turbo or a 94-98' 900 turbo, ecu is alot easier to tune. And of course you get yourself a 9000 Aero, and you got the cream of the crop for saab pickens. Easily will handle 300 whp. And some make upwards of 450hp and 500 torque on stock internals.

Some pics of our cars.

Awesome cars. Maybe my next car will be a Saab. This board needs a Saab section. It would be a shame to have to post under GM videos. That's like me having to post under Ford. It just isn't right.

The only engine plans I have for my car is a 3in turbo back and an ECU remap. Maybe a few other things here and there and that should be good for mid 14's or so. I do more autocrossing than drag racing, so i'll spend the majority of my money on suspension parts. Mods i've done so far are front and rear sway bars and i'm installing a spec stage II clutch. I broke my tranny so i figured i should replace the clutch while i'm in there.

At first i thought that was yours :eek3:
sounds like you have some decent mods planned for it. I use koni's and b&g lowering springs. Stay away from intax if you ever have the urge to buy them. I have some polyeurethane swaybar bushings, and a rear swaybar. Quite a crisp feel but no where near a well setup rwd car. But hey that doesnt matter , its the fact my saab is faster than your mustang

Yeah, my next mod will probably be KW coilovers. But they are so expensive that I won't have money to mod anything else for a while. I spent all day tryin' to get my tranny out, so that it can get back on the road.
Saabs and Volvos probably aren't the best platforms to use, but they got the sleeper thing goin'. I beat a turbo talon, an eclispe, and a mustang gt. They were all stock, but so was I. I'm sure they weren't expecting to lose to a volvo. The Mustang was at the drag strip and he beat me off the line, and I caught up and passed him right at the end. Good times.

Yeah I also have a 88' 900 saab first time down the track smoked a chevelle ss, I only ran like a 15 flat or so though. But yeah the coilovers may be a good investment, they just dont make em for the saab, however I do have a set of ground control coilovers on the Z, havent driven it yet but the quality is great, and my buddies Z with them handles amazing!

Anyhow if you wanna talk more hit me up on aim

Hey, I have a '96 900SE. Looking up stuff, it's actually a pretty good start. Plans for my car are highflow intercooler, highflow downpipe and cat. Remapped ECU and new springs to start. There are a couple of sites online that specialize in performance parts for Saabs that have all this stuff. All I have right now is a Saab sport exhaust. Sounds really nice and unlocked 5 or 6 HP. Anyway, if anyone else here is into Saabs, let me know, I'm still learning a lot about my car.

Welcome fellow Swedish tuner. Have you ever checked out Engstrom? They are located in Chicago and sell parts for Saabs and Volvos. Check out their site.

http://engstrom.net/cgi-bin/SoftCart...html?E+scstore

I haven't dealt with them personally, but I hear they are good and know their stuff. Good luck with the 900.

If it's the one that's July 3rd, I definately wont make that. I still gotta get my car fixed. I'll definately go to a meet in the future though. I go down to Chicago all the time. I have family there and I've been to a few Volvo meets and car shows, ect.

Completely unrelated but for you Saab guys, this site is awesome for factory parts.

http://fcpgroton.com/

I buy all my parts from them. Best prices on the net. And if they don't have something listed, they can get it for you. They ship real fast too.

Are you in the midwest Zmefly? You location isn't in you profile.
