I had never seen Intial D before eventho its so famous. Can anyone tell me why the guy in the ae86 had his hand tied to the wheel?

it was a gum tape death match.
its a type of race where you tape your hand to the steering wheel, both driver had this and it prevents you from turning hand over hand. the main point of this was to give a disadvantage to fr cars on the race.
