Ok guys, I am turning to you guys for some help again. I hae a choice between side pipes, and a normal exhasut system for my vette. The side pipes are 4" and are nice and loud, giving off the true deep sound of a big block. The next option is the normal 2.5 inch exhaust. it doesnt sound as bad-ass, but there is alot less noise at normal speeds. (neither of them need cats, or any emissions devices what so ever. Also i am not going to run mufflers on either of them.)

If its a 63-69(or70 cant remember when they changed) then run the side pipes. I know the 63-67 was one body and 68-69(?) was another. The 70-75(?) needs it under the car. I'm assuming we are talking 68, since thats in your name

4 inch with no cats or mufflers would sound mean but you would have NO backpressure. On my '74 Nova running 2.5 inch dual exhaust with no cats (never had cats or ever will) and no mufflers (I occasionally do to have fun) the car dident want to start and ran like crap below 3 grand, cam and intake are made for running above 3 grand anyway, but it dosent run like crap below 3 grand.
So I would say go with the 2.5 inch exhaust that and with the sidepipes you disperse the sound out the sides so if a cop is behind you, you probably have a better chance of not getting a noisy exhaust ticket.
