25 mph is about 35 kmph, you multiplie the mph with 1.36!

It is a pain in the ass and very hard to describe in writing; basically what connects the piston in the master cylinder to the pedal was a fork kind of thing that has a nut in one of its ends and a pin connection to the pedal assembly on the other end. You need to turn the nut so that you can move the fork thing, but to do this you need to disconect the fork thing from the pedal (the pin needs to be removed). It is easier if you loosen the screws that hold the master cylinder in place to the fire wall so that it can be moved and you can move things around easier. The only real reason why this is hard is because of the limited space and visibility when working near your pedals.

I think what was happening is that the clutch was half-engaging and thus slipping because of this miss-adjustment.

i know this description sucks but your car probably has a different system anyways, the best thing is to do is to look it up in some Mitsubishi forums or a Factory Service Manual.

I only went 25 mph on 5th gear to see if the rpm will rise if i step on the gas. I was curious if all the gears will go up to a high rpm if i step on the gas pedal, and they all do. I wasn't driving 25 mph on 5th gear at all, only trying to see the the rpm will go up.

Is changing the clutch kit easy enough to do by yourself? What about the flywheel?

This is similar to mine, that silver thing is what I refered to as "fork thing", it is pin connected to the pedal assembly as you can see and on the other end it has the nut you have to turn and is connected to the master cylinder. Exept mine doesn't have all the switches in the first pictures, and if it does I ignored them.

I think changing the clutch is easiy on a FWD car (a friend had it done in a day in his 200sx). It is pretty hard on a RWD cause you have to unbolt the tranny from the motor.

Its the clutch............................................ ...............
go to decent parts store like NAPA and get one.
Then Find a Reputable automotive shop to install it.

Usually shops charge $42 - $95 an Hour.

I dont know off hand what i'd charge for the install. It shouldnt be more than $300 for sure

hey, this picture really help clear things up a lot...LOL...it really does. Again, thanks, I'm gonna keep this post up until the weather is fair enough so i can take a good look at the car. And maybe I can get more help on how to fix cars so i dont have to waste a lot of money at the tech shop. and by the way, where exactly in the car is this area in the picture located?

How long does it usually take a shop to install the clutch kit. I have a cousin and he also has an eclipse, he went to a mitsubishi dealer here in town, ordered a new clutch set from them and had them install from them for a total of $1500.00...he said that the techs told him that his clutch was cracked or something and that his warranty won't cover the cost. If you guys know about the CareFree Car Protection warranty thing...he's got the Platinum Coverage, which on the description, it declares that any mechanical failure or breakage the car may have, including the clutch, all he had to do is pay $100 deductible and the rest will be covered by the warranty...he got so mad when the techs told him that it was not covered...he wanted to know why, but they wouldnt tell him...

$1500 would likely of been a new transmission installed.
Your going off on something else, that i have no clue about.
