As somebody else already pointed out R32 skylines are 2ltr 6 cyl Turbo R33 on are 2.5 6cyl Turbo, All GTR's from 32-34 all use 2.6ltr 6 cyl twin turbo all be it every model was more refined. R32 being one of the lightest and the R34 looking the tuffest
![]() Now a few things I read made me shake my head like Quote:
Now the main reason I can think of that skylines arnt that popular over there in the US is maybe just maybe it's because They WERE NEVER MADE IN LEFT HAND DRIVE, emissions may have something to do with it but saying they dont comply with US standrds becasue of saftey features, well your misguided again. Theres a reason yank tanks arnt that very popular down here isn't becasue of there saftey standards, we have very strict Australian design rules regarding cars and granted some cars like the s13 and the skyline do need compliancing to meet our standards, but the cost of converting a yank tank over to RHD is far more excessive. So I guess it goes the same way for the US, trying to register a RHD vehicle in a LHD country isnt worth the time and effort for the masses. Now I could be all wrong but you guys in the US should be thankful of your very relaxed tarrifs on new cars and are able to buy such new cars at a very resanable cost. The fact that you missed out on one of Japans best cars (and so did we but importing rules allow us to actually drive them on our streets) maybe something to cry about but dont stress about it to much :P |

Actually it IS the safety and emissions that they do not meet. It's not that they are unsafe. They are just different. They have to be crash tested and modified. crash test another and so on until it meets specification. Who pays for these perfectly good skylines to be modified and crashed??? Motorex did!!! That is why they are the only legal importer. They also did all of the research into converting them to meet the OBD-!! emissions and all of the airbag standards. They signed an agreement that allows them excusive rights for the next ten years... kinda like a patent. After that its fair game. Even though Motorex is going under, Hiro (the owner) still owns the rights.
The 95% that get confiscated is because they were brought in illegally, not because they were stolen. The other 5% just havent been found by the Gov't.YET!!! Last edited by nismoron; 05 Mar 2005 at 06:44 am. |

http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/standards/ http://www.epa.gov/air/caa/title2.html So im NOT misguided and you need to learn some Laws, and US standards before you decide to start talking about it, and acting like you know every little detail about the importation of foriegn cars in the US. The US isnt Australia, and we have different rules and regulations. Also you can register RHD cars here very easily, if you know what to do, and how to do it. (AE86 can stand up for me on this.) So next time you decided some one is misguided, remember you have down syndrom and you should not talk. (PS WTF is a Yank tank, just say a US car, and The US has the strictest standards in the world for car saftey and emissions.) I truelly hate people who think they know what they are talking about but dont and make an ass out of them selves. Due to your post I think you need permission before you can post again. So take your small head off the barby aight Mate! |

Fuk off dikhead..................
Im all for constructive critisism and am willing to learn but no need to say I got down syndrome Our ADR rules are also very strict and if you read this bit Quote:
I'll also point out that the Pontiac GTO is basically our Monaro with slight Visual changes so our ADR's are basically the same as the US. I'm also aware of your strict emission laws, especially in California. I didnt know that RHD vehicles are easily registerable in the US so thanx for pointing that out. Now I thought since the Supra for example is a 6cyl turbo motor that is available in the US, and was available in LHD then emissions seemed irrelivant in the Skyline discussion as they both use a similar engine design, but according to Mr 68 Vette I dont know shit even tho I've probaly ridden in more skylines than him. You didn't even know the R32 had a 2ltr 6cyl so I bow to your extensive knowledge of Nissans. I guess i couldnt care less about why you guys cant register a skyline over there Ps yank tank is a normal term used to describe old US cars like thunderbirds etc. They are about the only ones you see over here cause ppl have taken the time to restore and cars over certain age are available to be left LHD. Like I said before current model US CARS are not viable cost wise to convert over to RHD. Now wheres that Kangaroo to chuck on my BBQ ![]() |
