i have a friend with a GLI Jetta (ko4), and i have a friend with an 01' Jetta GLS 1.8t AWD motor (ko3), my friend just REVO chipped his along with few other stuff like a VF BOV, CAI, the usual stuff. now my friends GLS 01' had the APR 93 oct. chip, Forge 007 BOV, AEM CAI, Audi TT intke manifold to associate for the new FMIC.

ive rode in both of them and most definetely my friends GLS ko3 is way faster.

but the GLI stock looks really freakin cool and handles pretty well.

What kind of track are you talking about?

It's a decent car, but FWD so I wouldn't even consider it for any kind of motorsports. You do get a "nice" car for the money though.

Key word...4wd, also did ur friend drive the GLI with the ESP on? cause unless your in the snow, u dont really need it, and it kills power. esspecially in the rain ^_^

AWD was an engine code. Jettas don't come in all wheel drive man.

Also anyone putting a BOV on a newer VW isn't the smartest person.

we rallied the GLI with ESP on and off.

the GLI does have the option of a 24v VR6 in it.

and thanks verrückt for clearing that up, i guess i should have mentioned that.

theres like AWD, AWW, AWP, and so on like AEB in Audis and Passats.

1. ON the GLS there the 4motion option, 4 motion=4wd

2. I need a BOV, or else my turbine could spin backwards or i could blow my turbo casing

sorry to tell ya but the 1.8 is actually betetr if u look at it at a wider angle.

1.8T-180HP + 7-12 Ibs of boost. Light, powerful and saves gas.

VR6- 200 HP, only makes 20HP diff over 1.8T, and weights alot more, thus canceling out the power the extra two cylinders make

1.) No, there is NOT 4motion or AWD available on the Jetta. You are mistaken. You can get 4motion in the R32 Golf or the Passat, but not the Jetta.

2.) You do NOT need a BOV. Your car comes from the factory with a Boesch 710 recirculating valve (or DV...Diverter Valve). This releases excess pressure when the throttle plate is closed and recirculates the air back into the intake tract. It's also silent.

If you hook up a venting BOV to get some ghey cheesy ricer noise, your car will make less power because you will be releasing metered air which has already passed though your MAF into the atmosphere. Your A/F will be off causing your car to run rich and maybe throw check engine codes.

Please do some research and learn a thing or two about your car before you go and ruin it with stupid mods.

Or diesel anything! No throttle plate on a diesel means no BOV. I always laugh when I see diesel car owners asking if they can fit a BOV on their car.

r32 golf i would of thought have an option for 4wd as thats what they are as standard.
not sur about the year of witch vw make them but they do make 4wd jettas
its called . syncro
theyve even got a clever gear box that runs fwd untill it notices the front are spining faster than the rear then it goes 4wd!
