reduce your weight of what car you got. buy a dremel rotary tool and start polishing you intake exhuast. for airflow. thats the cheap and time consuming. weld your chasis better so it doesnt loose energy to the flexing. if you got a girlfriend/friends dont have them in it. change the cam. Turbo doesnt work too well in hondas because of the NA block. your boost is quite limted. probably can get a good amount of HP but not extreme. but for sure a good gain of overall torque.

LS Turbo will work fine, or Turbo LSVTEC. Or Turbo d15, or turbo ZC...
Notice the theme? To make a decent amount of power without spending a massive amount of money a forced induction setup is the way to go. B18a (or b) turbo will work fine. Compression will be low for a honda motor (9.5 to one, I think) and for a beginner that helps. Turboing a B18C can work too, you just need to remember that at 10.5:1 tuning is going to be harder, small turbos are out of the question and a big intercooler is a must. Detonation is spawned of three things: Timing Advance, Piston Compression and Compressor innefficiency. To help you have higher octane gas and big intercooling, all with the intent of raising the fuel's thermal limit and lowering charge temp. If you want to go low cost high power, I'd get a second non vtec sinlge cam, and build that while you turbo what you've got in your car right now. The actual turbo, injector and fuel management elements will be transferrable, that way when you blow your motor it'll be a simple swap. And yes, if this is your first excursion into boost, you will blow a motor.
