Default Hilarious Horsepower

So some of you might have stumbled across the fact that I'm turbo'in my Volvo(this week actually), yada yada(click in my sig for a little more info). Anyways my dad wanted to do a pre/post dyno run so the performance shop owner told me that I could do it this afternoon. So I roll down to the shop, whip out my.... whip... and drive it up to the shop, back it in and strap it down.

My results were HILARIOUS, I was laughing so hard when it got done. So says the book the car comes with 114hp at the flywheel(whatever that means) stock(pathetic for a 4,500lb car). Hilarious. So the guy does his thing and prints out the final things....... Drum roll or something.

Max Power: 85.0
Max Torque: 102.4
** leaking a little oil, and the airbox, etc. was off of the car, i dont think that helped anything **

See why I want a freakin turbo? LOL! 85hp powering a two ton car... I know its all funny I just wanted to post to give everyone a chuckle and make them feel better about their car. With the turbo I'm hoping to maybe make 120, but I think even that is high hopes at this point. I'll prolly blow up the engine anyways..... Anyways hope you've enjoyed this little update, I'll post back when I get some pictures and the new dyno reading.

Thx for making me feel good, i have a tercel, it only has like 60-70hp, lol. I also wanted to turbo charge it, but after thinking a while i realized it is useless it will only gain a little bit, plus, my tercel has a carburator so i can't put a turbo in it unless i make it fuel injection

Yeah just some info about what my dad and I did tonight:

We finished taking the oil cooler off of the old Volvo(turns out its an 84... woot?), and put it on my block. We modified the metal section of the cooler lines for my application(basically taking the 90* bends out of it). Front bumper has a "lip" or bodykit if you will(partially seen here, that pushes air in through several rectangular holes. The oil cooler will be mounted right behind that section as well we will be cutting 3 more rectangular sections out and putting a cover of some sort on the bottom of the car so that alot of air is going to be forced in that area.

The intercooler is going to be mounted upsidedown for airflow purposes as well. The tranny cooler will also be mounted somewhere near the bottom front of the car. We took off the entire exhaust system as an entire unit and after i dropped it on the ground(accident) and got it out of the way, we took off the exhaust manifold and then test fitted the turbo. My dads measurements were off and it turns out we have more than enough room, almost 3 inches between the side of the engine compartment and the turbo.

Anyways we are making quite a bit of progress and will be working on it through out the weekend. I'll have more updates and I'm going to take lots of pictures when its done(also maybe some pre-turbo shots and some video if im not lazy). Also we've estimated with adding the turbo on it adds about $500-$600 worth of value to the car -- Plus everything is being custom mounted and fabbed for my application and based on what my dad thinks is best(this is more of his project, he loves stuff like this).

You can put turbo in carburated engine, if you dont like then use a supercharger.
swap that 3ac to a 4age and start living the initial d legend or put turbo and be the corolla levin driver.

Its funny that you say that 88, that was my dads very first idea That would have been pretty sweet. My dad says he expects me to blow the engine within 6months, hopefully that doesn't happen, but that is one of the possibilities for a new engine that I have

I had one of those about 2 years ago. If yours is white, has about 160k miles on it, and was found on the side of the freeway with no coolant and 2year old tags that was my old car.

BTW, u can turbo a carbed car, just it's easier with an FI setup for the most part. GM had the first production turbo gasoline cars in the world back in the early 60's running carbs. one was an oldsmobile the other was the Turbo Corvairs.

I'm back, with some pictures I won't post them all here so just go to the following link and look at the TURBO PROJECT pictures for the pics I took last night. The labels are fairly self explanatory. The oil cooler was just sort of sitting in that spot, but we put the stock mounting brackets back on and zip-tied it to the front bumper support(zip-ties rock....), the 2nd picture is just the modified cooler lines(we heated them up and bent the 90* angles out of them).

Also, I've put up a few(5) pictures of a Conquest and Firebird that are currently at my dads shop. Those pics can be found at the bottom of this page.

I will however, post my favorite picture of the ones I took last night.

You have 2 posts..... So that must mean you don't have a car right?

I myself am young, and I don't really have the money for an expensive fast car. See mommy and daddy don't bow to my every command and even if they did, they wouldn't be able to buy my anything special. I've got like 150 posts and I've been here almost a year. People post here for fun, not because they have fast cars. If it were that way it'd be a private forum, and I'm sure asswipes like you wouldn't be allowed on it. But we'll let the admins be the judge of that.

Ya and what car do you drive, did your parents get for you.
For some of us we got to set our needs before what we wants or were just short in cash. I myself stop buying cars and wasting my hard earn dough for stuff like that, because when I hit 19 this year I will be have enough money for a mortgage. You can call any car slow but its fine because they have fun factor with fun tuning and cheap price. Whats the point of having a fully tuned car all you do is just drive it and dont know shit on fixing it . Spa3k gots the hands for tuning car and playing cheap cars and I congrats to him.

I dont care if my 240sx and my datsun A10 is consider slow. I payed for it myself!!!
