Quick question, did the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII (7) ever come to the United States? A guy is convinced on telling me that it came to the U.S. and i am telling him that the Evo VIII (8) was the first of the Evolution Series to come to the U.S. His proof is that it was in 2F2F. Can anyone help answer?

The Evolution VIII is the first of the line to be sold by mitsubishi motors of north america.
The most notable difference between the 7 and 8 is that in the US the Evo VIII does not feature the ACD and AYC present in both the 7 and the 8 MR (scheduled for release in the US shortly) Other than this the two are very similar cars.

To help the cars deal with deep-water crossings they are fitted with a special air intake system 'snorkel' from the engineĦs air intake to the roof. When breathing through the snorkel the car can drive through water up to four feet deep

in that particular photo the air scoop on the roof is an air vent to get fresh air into the cabin not for the engine,the air getting fed to the engine is on the left hand side of the bonnet you can just make out the naca duct
