ALL FD3s' were sequentially turbocharged from mazda.
fc3s' came in a non turbo version.
fb3s/sa22c's only came turbo in japan.

for 9000 you could find a SICK FC3S (86-91) rx-7. or a cheap, stock 3rd gen (93-95 in the states)

you could build a tire destroying machine out of an fb/sa22c (79-85) for 9000. i even happen to have one i could sell you that needs the motor rebuilt.

you can definitely find a rotary machine for 9k, the world is your oyster.

Friend of mine got a sweet 1st gen '85 Rx7 with a 12a (non-turbo) motor w/5-speed manual tranny for $500. No rust, body is straight, motor runs great, tranny shifts nice, and the rear limited slip differential works great! He bought it for a project car that he can drive everyday in the summer. He said that the guy also had another '85 Rx7 with a 13b (single turbo/fuel injected) motor w/5 speed tranny, with t-tops, and leather interior in just as good of condition as his for $1000. So for $9000 you could get a nice 1st gen and put $8000 into it!

are you sure it was t-tops?

they made like 3 targa tops in japan... it was kind of an experiment....but no t-topped ones, unless it was a complete custom job, which IS very possible. that'd be sweet to have a t-topped FB.

My friend said that it had t-tops, I never seen the car so he might be wrong but he knows his stuff about Rx7's. The guy that my friend bought his car from modifies older Toyota's and Mazda's. My friend said that he had 2 mid 80's Toyota Supra's that dynoed at over 350 hp to the rear wheels, 2 late 80's Toyota Celica's one that dynoed at over 400 hp to the rear wheels, 2 '85 Rx7's, and a '91 Rx7 that the guy wasent selling but said it had 500+ hp to the wheels. My friend said that he has the dyno sheets and paper work of everything that was done to every car, the two '85 Rx7's he said that the guy got a few months ago. So it probably was a custom job.

I just like the overall balance and handeling of the car. The motor is perfect and smooth like a V12. Theres nothing better.
