I would not focus on initial cost. Look at the long run.
Have $2,000+ for a new or rebuilt T-56 ? Have $7,000+ for a new motor when the timing chain decides to whip out all four cams? Have $ when the IRS decides to poop. Have $ to tune for mods ? Have $ for a tuning programmer? Have $ for tires. Have $ for maintenance These cars are not cheap. Even if it is a mustang. an old man could be the only owner selling for $15,000 with 30k on the ticker. Never once changed the fluids. Look at like an investment. it has to last through college.

I would get the timing chain fixed soon after i bought it I would have my mechanic check every inch of the car out Id have the money for tires Id have the money for maintenance Im not worried about mods right now, so tunning and whatnot isnt my concern maybe just exhaust and pulley upgrades, other than that nothing

You had better learn to read along w/ spelling. The mustang could barley beats it's own d!ck. Watch the embedded youtube video...ALL OF IT. You will clearly see that the mustang is only better in lateral G's due to being 300lbs lighter.....WHO GIVES A FUK....we muscle car/pony car guys don't auto x these cars, they go fast...straight...., but then again the camaros new IRS makes a better car in the twisties too. http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/..._gt/index.html

Get a co-signer... like your parents.

Better idea: If the price of the car you want is...say...17k and you have 8-9k in cash, get your parents to sign on to a "signiture loan" from the bank. If the parents have good credit, it will be a kick ass interest rate, better than the one on a car loan for a 5-6 yr. old car. Take the sig. loan check and the cash to the car dealer and pay that cobra off in full. In two weeks or less you should be mailed the title to the cobra. That way insurance will be less (somewhat) because there is no lean on the car title. It will be yours free and clear. The loan payment on a 3-4 year sig. loan w/ a good credit score from the parents should yield you a decently low payment on the loan. That way in 3 years you have paid off a loan that is partially in your name building your own credit score and your parents too.

The car didn't have to be in my name for my insurance rate to be good. My parent won't let me be on there plan because my sis got into an accident and got sue for $100k+ and lost. If she was on their plan, they could have gotten more. And our insurance company said the car must be only in my name for the insurance to be under my name only. Another insurance company isn't the option because being under my parents residence gets me an excellent rate. For an evo IX or a X, it would only be 100/month under my name. The guy just emailed me today and he is most likely trading it in for a sports trac today but still gave me the option to buy it, and for cheaper too. I would jump on this deal if I had credit LOL. but I'll talk to my parents tonight and let ya guys know if he has it or not still, and if I will be able to get any sort of loan for it. Thanks for the ideas guys.

^ you dont have to be on their insurance, just them being on the sig. loan is all. If the car is paid off in full from the cash and the loan, you can get the car insurance in your own name. My mother owns her own insurance co. in Chattanooga TN., PM me if you want, give me your info and I'll ask her about you and an 03-04 cobra. She is licensed to sell insurance in all 48 continental states. Granted I'm 33 yrs old w/ a good driving record, my Camaro Z/28 paid off in full......I now pay $48 per month full coverage through my mothers company.
