whats the motor? make it a 4l and i hope you can live with a larger fuel bill but they are a hell of alot of fun, if it's just for winter who cares. get as cheap as you can in good running condition and hope the body stays with you for the winter.

Infact they are,
My step dad has a 4.0L 1992 4wd 5 speed. They are not made for abuse, a great daily driver/ hauler/ Snow. he bought his brand new and not a single thing has gone wrong w/ 142k miles The rearends are nearly indestructable 8.8" same as a Mustang practically w/ ALOT LESS TQ going to it.rust is a issue for us living in the SNOW belt, but what the hell the truck runs fine, the bed is a little rusted, but its a truck who gives a **** he got his money worth

the guy says its the electirc contolls...
what can fix this? a fuse? or have to check the wiring? my main question is if the electirc controlls don't work does this mean the 4x4 doesn't work either?

I have a 1992 Ranger 2wd 5spd, I beat the hell out of it all the time - no telling how many miles are on it, reads over 400k on the odometer, but runs great.
Gets really good gas milage though and is dependable... lol.
