The mid-late 90's Dodge trucks are hooooooooooooooorrible... I've personally seen three go back for lemon law, all driven like miss daisy was ridin' shotgun. If you do go with a GM gas truck, don't get one older than '96, that was the first year of Vortech motors which was a huge improvement.

well you know what i would say....... but since you are always hatin on ford haha... i like the dodges. my buddys got a dodge not sure of the year but its a 2500, its got a chip in it, dual stacks. and it pulls pretty dam hard, and dam near ripped my other friends frame out from under his truck pulling him out of a mud hole. he averages around 17-18 not babying it

CUMMINS FTW. dont get you a Turdamax

only experience ive had with the 90s model gm turbo diesels was me racing a buddy in his before he even had his liscense and when i had my old nissan pickup. we were racing in a neighborhood being built over a 1/2mile straight. he was like 3 lenghts ahead of me. and there was a slight curve so i slowed down...... he didnt he went through it and about 200yards ahead was a cul de sac..... his brakes locked up for about 150ft. and he jumped the curb down a 20ft embankment wall, through a steel fence, a pole from the fence went through his windshield and into the backseat. would have ripped off a passengers arm if they had been in the seat. but he put it in 4lo cralwed up the hill nearly vertical in reverse up the hill and out pulling over 50ft of fence with him.... so needless to say they're strong trucks.. and he sold it after that

My opinion would be the dodge. My dad has a 3500 dualie diesel and hasn't had many problems with it that he hasn't caused himself. He uses the truck hard. He's towed 3 tractors at once from new york to home with no issues. I think the transmission issues had been in the auto's if I remember correctly. He drives it to and from work everyday (about 60 miles one way) and used to get around 18 mpg. Since then he has put in the full banks power pack and everything so it might have gone down some since then.

We work all 3 major brands everyday at work. Dodge, Ford and Chevy Diesel 4 dr. trucks.
All are newer ( 07-08 ) But from the way it looks :

The fords are overall crap, cheaply made and they have ALL had major tranny work done on them. The running lights just pop right out of the sockets if you take a bump to hard...lol Great leg room in the back.

The dodges seem to pull the best, but we have had head gasket issues w/ a few of our dodge fleet. Moderste leg room in the back.

The chevys don't seem to pull as well as the dodge, but better than the fords. They have been solid over all and have the best tranny ( allison 6 speed auto ). Moderate leg room in the back.

I've always heard that the Fords have the best bodies, the Chevys have the best Transmissions and the Dodges have the best engines. Just put the three together.

dude on my local forum picked up a 05? 2500 duramax with 50k under 20.
save some loot or finance and get what you need. do it right the first time.
duramax and the allison can't go wrong.

I'd never buy a gas truck to haul/tow anything.
