Well tomorrow I'm getting my transmission and differential flushed(well drained) and adding new fluid.
It hasn't been done since forever, my car has about 120k miles on it, 5 speed manual trans, RWD of course. The ultimate reason for us changing the fluid is because of a strong tranny or rear end whining while driving (notice it specifically loud when driving near a semi truck and or a wall...ear drum piercing even lol) My question or discussion....is the whining being cause by the lack of tranny fluid or diff fluid? both are getting replaced either way tomorrow with synthetic blend 85w-140 gear oil, and im hoping it fixes or reliefs the sound some if not completely

it's getting changed out right now.
Diff is done. Gear oil was black as ****. Same with the trans fluid. Hopefully it stops whining :$

well i am 90 % sure that its the diff. causing this sound .
because the axel gets louder on turns . did you try to greec the diff internal before adding oil ! it should temporary resolve the problem . when you shift gears if you dropt he clutch hard do you hear a bang from the diff ? when you changed the oil did you notice any small metal shiny thingy drop with it ? |
