is it the key thingy that isn't working? this is pissing me off because it feels like i'll never figure it out. any comments to help a brother out? thanks

Hmmm.....how old is the car? One of the battery cables somewhere down the line might be shot. Not the parts that are visible from the top, just somewhere down the line it might be corroded or have rubbed something for to long and is not getting a good connection. Are ALL the ground wires good to go? That would be my next guess, they may be fuked up along the line somewhere as well. Please keep us updated, I want to hear the outcome of this.

Does the key have one of those chips in it or is it to old to have that? If so, could be your key. My original key for my camaro got over used I guess and wouldn't start the car, nothing worked like you are saying....switched to my spare key and she fired right up.
