Default Rag top question

I'm thinking about doing a rag top on my mk5, it didn't come with a sunroof and that's my biggest regret with the car.
Do any of you guys have experience with ragtops? are they reliably waterproof? Vdub I know your uncle's car has one, does it ever leak?
I found some at Ragtops by StreetBeatCustoms.com anyone heard stories either way about their products?

No experience with ragtops but I would guess its like most things it depends on what ragtop kit u get and who/how its installed.

my vert is a ragtop. i love it! its easy to clean doesn't leak and looks waaay better than vinyl. however, color choice is a big issue too when going with any top. i have a beige top which looks clean all the time. something like black or white may be harder to keep clean.

but its also much stronger than vinyl and looks more professional as it doesnt crease like vinyl does. thats all i got for ya. As for ragtop sunroofs i couldnt tell ya much on reliability and such.

Kirk you're just playa hatin' cause I poked a little fun in the inspirational thread, we all know ragtops are pimp. Vette12, it's a different style than convertible, it's like a really big sunroof.

yea thats what i noticed from ur link. but as for the material in general u ,should go for it over vinyl or anything else. however, i'd rather have the glass sunroof over ragtop.

a glass roof would be uber baller in your jetta but I wonder what kind of stuff you would have to do to get the same or similar rigidity of a stock roof car.

i've heard more bad things then good about doing rag tops.. mainly the leaks.. and i guess the parts that come with the kit is crap and break during install real easy, expecially from streetbeat.. alot of truck guys have used those kits in s10's..

Why on earth would you compromise the structural rigidity of your frame to install something like that???
