Hi there my mate has a 97 Galant VR4 sedan 5speed manual. It is currently boosting 7 pound as of standard. The problem is that when it gets between 6-7k rpm it dies off quite a bit.. it's pretty weird cos I can also smell alot of unburnt fuel when i get that high in the revs aswel. Not really sure on what it could be.
The only modifications are bov, fmic, pod filter, and boost tap which is wound right out so no added boost. Someone told me it could be the coil packs? but I haven't really had the time to have a look yet as my engine is a mother****er to work on. So im here wanting to eliminate the process of trial and error ![]() Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A boost leak test is highly recommended. Also maybe a dead o2 sensor.

Why would it be the O2 sensor? Don't they send signal to the ecu only on idle?
