On some of our old meter reading trucks (90-93) F150s the throttle body would get really gunked up which caused some rough idling. We used throttle body cleaner and put it on a rag and rubbed it inside the throttle body and on the butterfly and then, with the engine running, you can spray it directly into the throttle body.

Could also look towards the coolant temp sensor.

Get some Mass Air cleaner. DO NOT USE CARB CLEANER. It will **** up your electrical contacts.

Take the IAC off, and empty half the bottle into the thing. Give it some time to dry, re-install, and test.

Do the same with the MAF if you thing it's the problem.

However, if the IAC is the problem, cleaning it is only a temp fix. You'll have to get a new one eventually.

your AMM or MAF might be defective. If you want to be sure that it is in fact busted, when your car is on on idle, unplug the AMM/MAF and if the idle isnt affected whatsoever then its busted.

good luck buck!

obviously do a full tune up.

- Plugs bosche platinums+4 $6 each and go for up too 100,000 miles
- Wires
- Cap/rotor
- Oil change
- Fuel Filter
- Air filer
- Adjust your tire pressure
- easy on the fuel pedal

and see where your timing and TPS is at.

there is a small hole on the throttle body blade that allows air to come in at idle. Make sure this small hole is not clogged up or blocked in any way. If it is only during the cold, moisture may be getting in there somehow and causing the maf to read poorly upon cold start up. clean the maf and the throttle body and see is that helps. If not, try the fuel filter, mine acted up during the cold before, because it was dirty and needed replacing.

Get a wagon. I fit all four of the 30" tires for my samurai into my sedan corolla no problem, a wagon could fit tons more.
