If that happens try to go at a higher RMP and let the gas go faster, also get more of a zigzag motion in to increase weight transfer. IF the suspension is really stiff he should try e-brake, liftoff, or braking drifts, they are easier and weight transition isnt the most important thing. Also on the feint, try pulling the E-brake if it understeers.

Driving and having drifted an AWD car the answer is a combination of all of the above.

The feint motion of out and back combined with a (what does drift bible call it, shift lock?) downshift and popping of the clutch should break all four wheels free.

Its a Mitsu which means transverse motor, FWD bais, unless you're employing and aftermarket Center diff.

Means you'll need to be superaggressive on the gas to break the rear wheels and have the steering largely done, unless its got a rear LSD and front open diff.

That's incorrect. The engine layout has nothing to do with the static torque bias. The stock Evo torque bias for US cars is 50/50 and they come with a rear LSD. It should be no problem getting the tail out.

I suggest a stiffer rear sway bar. My car also has 50/50 torque bias and I can get the tail out at will. I also have a ton more horsepower and torque than an Evo though.
