if your car drink oil, you need a heavy weight oil. Not toooo extreme. Try using the new synthetic "blends" they have out now. It is a 50/50 mix of conventional and synthetic, go w/ a 10w 40 at first and if that does not do the trick for you, go 15w 40. Lower numbers have less viscosity and are thinner, better for winter time or cold weather as they will be able to run more freely sooner as the car warms up. Higher numbers are a thicker/heavier oil and they tend to cling better to moving/rotating parts. Just watch out though, they can also cause a faster sludge build up, as long as you are using a good grade of gas that will combust well w/ a thicker oil and you use a oil cleaner/conditioner 3-4 times per year you should be just fine.

I used to put 20/50 then I moved to 10/40
I did try for a while 40 use just 40 , it cost like 3 dollars per litter, but god dam it smells so bad when it burns up so I retuned to 10/40 and I put a very thick material with oil so it will reduce the oil consumption ,, |

In the 12a turbo I use Penrite HPR40.
In the 13b peripheral port I use Penzoil GT Racing 50. In my Nissan Exa (pulsar nx) 1.5 litre turbo daily driver I use Penrite HPR40 or 50. I use the Penzoil as that is what was recomended by the engine builder. That motor has never had anything else in it and after a recent freshen up (after me owning it since '99) I won't bother trying anything else. Internally the engine waslike new. Not bad for a full race engine that has had years of abuse! The Penrite has a very good reputation also. Certainly better than whatever was in the Exa when I first got it. No longer using oil as it was! Mobil 1 synth is definatley very good stuff. Royal Purple/ Amsoil etc is way to expensive here in Aus to even contemplate, although it is very good (shown in testing). BP Visco is also supposedly very good.

Yes, added directly to the oil upon changing it.

German castrol 0w30 + NAPA gold oil filter. The only real way to tell how well an oil is standing up is to have a lab do oil analysis on a sample. There are some oil freaks on bobistheoilguy.com who have independently tested this stuff and the german castrol (made to a higher spec than the n.american stuff) consistently ranks very high. redline is also very good, but i cant justify the additional cost.
