Default vr6 help please

hey guys, i was hoping someone may be able to help me out here.

Im planning a vr rebuild, and i know the basics on how to do it, i have just a few questions to help.

basically, i know what parts i need for a complete rebuild, and how to put them together, im just not sure the exact process. Is there a certaind order they go together, or also, the the camshafts need to be at TDC. those are my two questions, and im also looking for recomendations, are there certain like different performance pistons, cams, etc...????

thanks with any help

is it a 12v or 24v?
are u planning on boosting? if so go with some forged pistons, and rods, also get a new head gasket to lower compresion.
it all depends on what u want out of your setup, is it gona be a daily driver, or jus weekend car
vr6 engine are very good motor, can make alot of power with forced introductuoin. from what i know the blocks are bassicaly bullet prooff. stock internal start goin around 350whp-400

if i were you i'd hit up vwvortex.com i promise you will find your answers, but do a search before posting questions there, they tend to be hard asses if it has been discussed time and time again.

but a few quick answers from me, don't worry about your camshafts till you do your timing, just make sure the bearings are torqued down properly and you will be fine, it all gets set when you do your timing belt. and as for the order in which to do it.... it works the same as the tear down just in reverse. start from the bottom up. make sure your rings are placed correctly.

nah, im first, im just lookin at more low gear power, ya know, not so much 5th gear as much first and second (obviously ). This is really gonna be my first car project, im buyin a block from this dude for $200 i think, which only what is wrong is the #5 rod bearing spun, and the Crank Journal on the #5 rod is grooved as well as the rod and the rod cap, which i was also gonna ask about... How is that to repair? my buddies dad said he knows how, but i think he is gettin sick of me asking him questions . But anyway, i thought rebuilding a vr6 would be a great first project to start on, and ill figure it out from there Eventually, i may be throwing a turbo on it, but i doubt it for my first project car, just gonna give it a cat back, maybe an ecu chip, and some nice ass coilovers .

So anyway, nah i just want a nice rebuild, not necessarily anything for forced induction, just something that can last me at least 140-150k miles, without TOO many problems , ya know, like a new motor

is this where i set my shit to TDC and all that nonsense?

I appreciate your guys help so much , i think VWVortex hates me now /cry

when you do your timing belt you have to just align all the marks and tighten up the belt, what car is it for?

buy an 89gti for 400$ and hook that b1tch UP! theres a guy herer in quebec with a swap like that, he took the vr6 from a passat a believe and stuck it in his 89Gti which is quite sick for a FWD car. DO what Traction Issuez
