im currently in the middle of a datsun 510 drift build and was wondering if any1 has done this swap b/f
I have seen a couple of CA's and SR's in them along with VG's, stock L's and even a LS1,LS2 I've Checked around online and have found Conversion kits for the SR's, CA's, VG's but none for the RB just looking for some insight BTW the datsun will have a full R32 Suspension setup and rear end from www.Datsport.com

:thumb: I was telling a friend about going with the RB20DET swap for his 510 u know to be different, but he's choosing the built KA24DET turbo route as he wanted something easy to get parts for here in the states. Right now he has the L22 hybrid in there. Here's a new pic of his 510 after installing coilovers and SSR's.

Thanks for all the info and support
y the RB is REALLY Long compared to the SR and there are more parts available in the us for it than the RB Ill probably do a S15 SR+mods maybe HKS Stroker+GT28RS+Custom 3" exaust+Greddy intake Mani Tomei Exaust Mani+DP,Tomei Head w/ P&p, ARC Intecooler, and HKS FconV ![]() That will cost me my left nut but hey :thumb: IF YOUR GONNA BUILD SOMETHING BUILD IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME:thumb:

Forget the RB. As mentioned it is far to long to be done easily. I would go for the CA18 (just because it is my personal preference). SR's and CA's have been done plenty so it won't be to complicated. Another option is the FJ20 which is a very well proven, tough as nails motor. The only problem is that they are getting on in age a bit.
One day I'd like to build a decent L series. Even these can make quite reasonable power- more than enough for drifting imo. I know that you can get an L20 out to ~2.4 litres using other Datsun gear and iirc, Mitsubishi pistons. I'd have to research more on this as I can't quite remember. This is what I want to do to my 510/1600 when I get the time and money...perhaps it will never happen- I've got to many projects! And another thing, nothing will sound as tough as a full house L series running twin Webers or quad throttle bodies....something to think about!
