Default Emission testing has taken a leave

This year we have no emissions testing, and I love loud cars and was wondering would there be any drawbacks to just run an open cat back, till I have the money to buy a real cat-back and off road X

Ive run a bunch of different exhaust configurations, so here is my opinion.
1) stock manifolds+ cats + no muffler. Really throaty, not as much rasp as you would think due to the cat. I liked the sound. Many non-car ppl hated driving in the car with me. Felt like it was still restrictive on the top end.

2) mac mid length headers dumping straight out - no yipe, no cats, no exhaust (drove to the muffler shop this way to get my 3" stainless system welded in. CRAZY loud. When I left the lights, other cars would stay 10 cars back. Sounded like a pro-stock car hahahah.

3) 3" catback + ory + mac mids - sounds good, good power
4) same + high flow cat - less rasp, same power. with modern high flow cats, i dont think u are giving up much, if any power on a n/a car. id go with this.

i say go for it.. it will sound good and its only temporary.

Us poor fbody owners are stuck with single exhaust. You ford guys are lucky - they gave you true dual exhaust from the factory. No mufflers will sound badass.. esp in stop and go traffic when you get to hear it throughout the rev range.

i went straight pipe with only a muffler and i have almost no noise, but that is because of the turbo which takes in most of the rumble

I can get something deep when i floor the hell out of it though!

If you're fine with getting pulled over EVERY time you pass a cop, straight pipes sound rockin on a stang in my opinion.

It depends on where you live, I guess. Maybe Ive just been lucky, but I have never been pulled over in my z28 for any reason, despite having open headers / no mufflers at one point and a bottle in plain view where the rear seats used to be. In my neck of the woods, driving a civic with an aftermarket exhaust of anysort makes you much more liable to get pulled over and harassed by police than a loud exhaust on a muscle car, which tend to get driven by older ppl and not 17 year old punks weaving in and out of traffic "racing". I remember one time being at the lights when a late 60's BBC vette pulled up to me with open side pipes. I couldnt even hear my own car over his idle.. a cop pulled up behind us and even he was enjoying the music.

People may call our place floyds snobs (floyds knobs is the real name) cause of the fancy houses and sh1t but they are really laid back and all that im not worried about cops I've had a friend that has been pulled over because the cop wanted to see what was in his car not because of shennanigans

oh and im only 18 use to do stupid stuff in my truck but thats because it didnt have the power to get out from beneath me randomly soooo yeeeaahhh that MIGHT be a problem but i really doubt it, i was ticketed once for racing a 5.0mustang and all he said was we were doing 80+ actually 90+ side by side so thats why he ticketed us

but i really wanna do this i looked under my car and the pipes are not welded by the y or x didnt check after the cats so im gonna leave them on maybe if i feel like it i'll get an advanced friend in welding to just cut them off and stick some piping up there and have true straights

and to talon....I've seen cars just like mine with just an off-road x so i dont think we do but i know there is in louisville and we have plenty of redneck trucks here

annnd wow the tire place just called literally 10 minutes after i left my truck there and they are done wow

but as of now im just dreaming it might be a week or two before i do this
