Default Galant VR4 rebuild

Hey guys, I've read this site for a while, and loved all the videos, but never really posted... My 1991 Galant VR4 recently ate a rod, and I'm rebuilding it... I'm still not sure what compression Pistons to go with, and was looking for some input.

I'm really leaning towards JE's forged 9:1 pistons... JE makes some good stuff, so I'm thinkin JE pistons on eagle rods.

9:1 is a big bump up from 7.8:1, but this car is my daily driver, and although I love street racing, I'll be doing alot of autocrossing, where response and low end power is far more important.

I'll be using a Evo III 16G and Starion FMIC for this project. Stock fuel management at this point, and probably stock 9lbs of boost. (though it is on a bigger snail, and I have a MBC.)

My heart isn't set on 9:1 pistons out there, and Ross and Wiseco also make pistons for the 6 bolt 4g63 with compressions ranging from 7.8, 8.0 8.5 and 9.0.....

I've thought about keeping the stock ratio and cranking the hell out of the boost.. but I don't have tons of money and really can't afford the fuel management components in addition to performance internals.

Any input is appreciated.. What kind of setup do you guys think I should go with?

Zak
