Well I was on my way home from dinner tonight, and well getting on the expressway, the OXS and the battery light both came on then went away. When I got off the expressway they came back on and stayed on, so I stopped at the next parking lot and checked to make sure I still had the belt. I did, and it was plenty tight, so I drove it home and on the way noticed that it was idling at about 1500 rpm (normally idles at 1000).
I'm assuming the alternator just bit the dust, and the increased idle speed is simply the engine no longer being loaded by it. I'll be digging into it tomorrow after I get home (taking the mustang to work since it'll be dry all day), but until then I'd appreciate any other theories for my lights coming on and idle speed going up. ![]()
