Yeah, and pointless to race with. Yee-haw, how much fun am I having with all this torque steer...

Turbos and fwd never should have gotten together--I don't know why Chrysler and Saab refuse to let go...

I've posted this before in a livejournal group, and was called a liar, but this is what I saw and the guy said.

This black SRT-4 pulled up at school a couple weeks ago, and the guy was wanting to run someone. The fastest car at school is this SR20 240SX, and the guy was working on his car at the time and couldnt race. So we told him about this guy who flys around town in this 993 911 Turbo (pre 94). So he went to where the guy worked and asked him if he wanted to run his car.

So the guy agreed to race and met him out in front of school. They get a red light and line up. The SRT-4 starts to spool the turbo and the whole car starts shaking like crazy. The light turns green and the 911 Turbo didn't even have a chance. The tires chattered on the SRT-4 and it was gone, no wheelspin or anything. He left the Porsche by about 2 car lengths.

The guy comes back and pops the hood. Its got the Stage III Mopar upgrade with a huge Garrett turbo (cant remember the number). And said he had it boosted to 36psi. I've never heard of a car, except rally cars having that much boost. I don't know what his 1/4 mile time would be, but its enough to stomp a 993 off the line.

I got a buddy with a 92 Civic CX hatch with a 2000 Si VTEC in it pushing about 160 at the wheels. And he can launch at 4grand with street tires and not even burn the tires. They just bark real hard and the car just jets.

sorry, but that just cannot happen at the moment. i work for chrysler and have a pt turbo. stage two is not available yet for the pt, but is for the srt-4. no word on stage three release date yet. most guys are getting more hp and tq out of stage one with a mbc and intake, exhaust, etc. than out of a stage two setup. now we all know that there are a couple of 500 hp beauties out there, but stock, the srt-4 can only handle 21lbs of boost without damage per chrysler. there would have to be some major mods done to run 36lbs. i'm not saying this car isn't fast, because i get to drive them all of the time, i'm just saying that at this point this doesn't sound reasonable especially since the DCX just released stage 2. it may be almost a year before we see stage 3. however, i do have a guy that comes in on a regular basis for service running mid 12's without a bottle. he even has the "god created turbo lag to give v8's a chance" on his rear bumper.

That's because the car has no power.

In reality, it's probably only capable of 2.0-2.2 second 60' times which is slow.

A quick car will cut 1.7 or better.

Many people dip into the 1s (60ft) with a b16 hatch. Just need the right setup.
