I was driving home last night going uphill and noticed that my check engine light just went on? I looked at my gas and i had none? ok im an idiot for driving without gas? so i put gas and my check engine light is stil on?
so i go home and i unhook the battery and hook it back up! check engine light off, drove it around and no check engine light! Now why would my check engine light come on like that? |

sorry the car is a 2000 honda civic ex basically all stock, i threw my friends decoder on it and it threw a code P0420 something about the catalyist system running below threshold or something like that, so i ran over to my uncle's shop and he said that its just the 10% ethonal gas we are running down here it sucks ass so he tells me to erase it everytime it comes on so i do and i erase it so after erasing it and driving for like 10 mins no full throlte normal driving it comes on again so i say what the **** run an octane booster and 92 gas to try and compensate but yet the fu*king light returns what the hell is going on?

none fo this makes sense. the only thing about the cat is if it ran very lean, it could melt the inside, but very unlikely since your car woulf die before it got to this point. id say you prolly have a sensor issue, or matbe a bad ground?? thats just me though. check a honda dealer, maybe a common issue.
