Default Starting a turbo car

This afternoon I went to pick up an 87 Audi turbo but for some reason it wouldnt start. I was there for a while till the owner that gave me the car (for free) came out and asked me what was goin on I told him that it wouldnt start. well it did start but it would idle he said that it may be the idle control valve after I tried to start it. He also told me not to ever start a turbo car by stepping on the accelerator. Why is that?

I believe the 87 Turbo Audi's were "Bosch" fuel injected. YOU NEVER touch the pedal on a Fuel Injected car when starting.

Many times, NO. It'll actually go into fuel cut, depending on the setup.

However, a FI motor already enriches the system for Cold start, based on coolant temp, air temp sensors, and other sensors.

I have found the best way to start it would be: First insert key into ignition, second, rotate key clockwise (forward) until motor starts. If you car has a clutch, then things really get hard, you need to push the clutch in all the way before you insert the key and keep it in until the car starts. Also make sure the car is in "N" nutral. Good luck on you quest!

yep,

now if the car was carbureted you could do that because the amount of fuel dispensed depends on air flow through the barrel

Especially IF the car does not have a fuel cut or flood clear option programed into the PCM, and it dumps raw fuel into the exhaust and takes out a few o2 sensors. :loser1:

There's still a chance of flodding a N/A car, and causing piston wash
