Also you can use a rubber mallet and gently tap it all loose (it should just crumble and fall out).

Or, better yet install it the way it is and run some sand through it for awhile. That should clean it right up.
im sure my mom would be really upset with me if i used her oven

So. You can also use a tourch if the carbon build up is at the end (if you see most of it) of the runners. FIRE!, FIRE!

What part of aluminum manifold DIDN'T you see?

No offense, but unless you've worked with aluminum long enough, excessive HEAT when it's not in it's correct envorinment *aka bolted to heads, installed in car* the heat could end up causing "spot warping"... Not good.

Use a couple rags, maybe a metal bristled "bottle brush", and some brake/carb/throttle body cleaner, and you'll be good to go.

OR... If you know a shop near by that has a solvent tank, or other cleaning setup, drop by there with $20 and they'll do it for ya.

Worked for 12 years. Yes you are right, heat= bad. you have to know what you are doing. Everything takes knowledge and skill. You CAN use a solvent tank (mine is REALLY dirty from that!), but I like fire !
