I'll add my two cents. My friend had a A4 with stock bottom end that was fitted with GT25 ball bearing turbo, front mount and supporting mods. The work was done by ultimate racing in toronto (they do a lot of s2000 turbo conversions).
It was claimed that it had 300hp. My impressions? I had an opportunity to drive it and while it did pull pretty good once on the boost, the powerband (and I use the word "band" generously) was about 1000-1500 rpm. Anything under 5500 rpm and it was flat on its face. The compromises to driveability that were made in the name of peak numbers wasnt worth it, IMHO. Perhaps it was bad tuning? I cant speak to the long term longevity of the stock bottom end, because the car was written off in an accident. |

I hope that I didnt come across as saying that the car was slow; it wasnt!!! I just found that putting too large of a turbo really affects the day-to-day driveability of the car. He would have been better served by putting something better matched to the displacement of the car (or a small shot of juice to get that turbo spooled
