is it possible to have 2 settings for your ecu? For example put the mods on you car to make 325 whp then have another setting to make like 100 whp to improve gas milage on the interstate. I would assume it would limit the air and fuel into the engine so it will still have good a/f ratio but would use less gas and what not. If this is possible which brands and how much, i'm really curious about my mpg since the price has skyrocketed.

It is possible on many Nissan ECU's. You have to get the ECU socketed and buy a chip with twice the memory capability. Then you burn two maps to it and use a little adaptor that has a switch wired to it. Then you just flip the switch to position 1 or 2 to swap maps. Even with the car running. Just in case! I do not know about other brands of ECU. Also the new E-Manage ultimate can have (I think) 4 maps stored. It will hook to just about any import and some domestics. |

Yeah, but I less than 50 bucks invested and can burn any tune I want. I can burn an optimal higway tune AND keep my foot out of it. But I elect to keep it tuned at full boogie! ![]() |

They actually don't sell the technology I have anymore (IBE) but a newer device called flashloader. The switching device shown changes between programs. ![]() Click for more info. |

well i guess that makes more sense. But I see ecu running like from 300 to 1.5k! all i really want is to have 2 maps and have someone tune each for their designated purpose. I have no idea what kind i need for that, does anyone know? I know that this is a big loaded question since there are so many different ecus out there. Its not like the ecu is going to be pushing a ****load of power. Like i dont' know the difference between a stand alone and a piggy back other than that a piggyback uses the pre-existing ecu and the standalone doesn't need it.
