Actually the VG30DET was a completely different motor from the VG30DE and the VG30DETT in the z32 300zx. The VG30DET came in the Z31 300zx and several Japanese sedans. They dont even share the same block or heads and are not interchageable.

Well then you better tell nissan they stamped the wrong engine code on the plate in my Z31 becuase it says VG30E and the motor I put into my car is a VG30ET...the VG30DET is not a SOHC like my VG30ET it is DOHC meaning it has four cams instead of two like mine. Here is a link that will let you know the truth-

http://www.az-zbum.com/modification.engine.swap.shtml

and a pic of a VG30DET:

Hope this clears up your misunderstanding.

ive had 2 300zx's TT and N/a. and what can i say, the TT was so responsive, i have no clue what yall are talkin about, waiting for turbos to spool up?? you must have never driven a 300zx, or a TT for that matter, you get in a 1996 300zxTT and it will take off like a rocket.

Insurance is a pain in the ass if you under 21 though, 578$ a month for me. but i sold them so now i dont have to worry about that.. :banghead:

Not really a finger typo. More of a brain typo. Brain fart, whatever you wanna call it. I was thinking one thing and saying another. But yes, you are right and it is good that wwe have it all cleared up. I see so many people get mixed up with Nissan engine codes and I cant figure out why. They are so easy to understand. The only comfusing thing they ever did was name two engine families VG. Like I said before (intended to say, that is) VG30E(T) and VG30DE(TT) are not even similar except that they are V6's and 3 liters.

That's just with a chip.

Things start to get interesting when you go to larger turbos.
