Default Toluene Octane booster

Anyone tried the old toluene in the tank trick? Was wonderin what results you had, especially in high boosted turbo cars...

when i went to a local track meet here in Colorado many guys were putting toulene in there 500rwHP twin turbo 300ZX's... just like race fuel.. and cheaper!

Not anymore. It's $56 for 5-gal of Toulene. I used it a few times, and it made a difference (114 octane), but not much, just better power in the higher RPMs (NA Motor, with nitrous).

It kicks ass. I've run 27 psi with it. Don't go with more than a 30% mix of Toluene.

I was thinking of more like 20%. When mixed at 20% with 93 octane pump gas, I should have around 97oct. That should be sufficient for what I need.

wasnt there something about toulene you need to mix some oil into it to prevent something from having all the oil removed

Of course, you dont want to go over the hill. You only need to slow the flame enough to prevent knocking, if you dont have any knock with a say 20% mix then there's no point in running more. But the turbo F1's of the 80's that were running 70+ PSI they had a mix of toluene upwards 90%. Read a good article on this a few years ago, maybe I still have it and post it later.
