I'm aware of this and have participated in such events.

I wouldn't trust that if you had it signed in his blood. You could hear a totally different story once you actually took it in to have it fixed. I'm not saying that would definitely happen, just that it can't be said for sure.

This I agree with. I'm lucky to still have my tranny. I didn't know any better when I first got the car, and did some high rpm clutch drops. Babied it once I found out though, and still goin strong at 34k miles.

You're right. I was taking some license, but I would argue with you that it isn't worth it.

For one, I've thoroughly enjoyed doing all of the work on my car (mine is very similar to his and his twin brother's.) I've learned volumes. I know I have volumes still to learn, but when I bought the car 3 years ago I knew virtually nothing about cars. I retire from the military in a little over 5 years and feel confident now that I have the smarts to go into business tuning cars with the experience I've gained tooling on my car as well as others.

I now have a much more solid block. It's much more resistant to detonation and resistant to a significant increase in cylinder pressure and higher rpms.

It's not a world beater, but it's a sleeper. Mine is a station wagon. Once I get it back on the road, I believe that I should be able to expect 11 second quarter miles at generally 118 or so. I've also put a lot of effort into tuning the brakes and suspension, so it will probably more than I can handle on the road course.

My WRX = $21.6k
STi = $31-32k

Add to my WRX, the shortblock ($1.1k), forged pistons ($600), JDM v7 6mt transmission ($3.3k), Tein Flex w/ EDFC ($1.3k), Stoptech BBK ($1.5k), JDM v7 heads/cams ($1.7k), 17" Rota Subzero's w/ Yoko AVS ($600), UTEC ($1k). That's about $32.7k for my car to be able to perform generally the same as the STi, PLUS I can carry a buttload of stuff in the rear of my car. Of course, that's not all I have on my car but those are what I can think of that the STi has...except for the IC sprayer, shift light, climate control, HIDs... but I'm mainly talking about performance items.

NOW, I know I don't have an STi. I don't tell people that I have an STi, although I would call it a FrankenSTien. I also have the FP Green, which is what I'm banking on to get me into the 11's. That will also be on a self-made road tune.
