I was there ( in the passenger seat ) - this is a friend of mine. It is an STi - he replaced the large wing with the smaller one.

We had been doing 0-60MPH tests with his STi for a long time - guess it was only a matter of time before something broke. Those launches were just insane, the car was crazy fast. After it broke, he was able to dial the DCCD all the way to the front and drive home!

I actually heard that the tranny in the sti is pretty strong - there were 600 hp cars on the stock tranny and upgraded clutch, no Idea how hard those were being driven though.

The STi tranny is definitely better than that of the EVO

but then again it all depends on how you treat/mistreat it...
