Pretty n00b mistake. During hard corner if you hit the brakes, like he did, you will transfer alot of weight forward and cause oversteer, he overcorrected and went into the canyon wall. Something easily learned at road courses and even autox's. Also a good reason why pushing it hard on a canyon road is bad. Good thing he didn't kill a biker!

i watched the video about a dozen times and it looks like he went into the corner a little too hard and started to understeer. as a result he was going to slide into the oncoming lane into the biker so he hit the brakes to transfer some more weight to the front. but it looks like the car just got away from him. it happens. not really a noob mistake but it does happen. calling it a noob mistake would be like calling colin mcrae a noob because he rolled his car. these things happen he didnt hit the biker and he is ok thats all that counts
remember ......... its just a car ( although a very nice car ) it can be replaced and meowmeow not everyone has participated in those events or taken race driving courses. your right you do learn all those tecchniques when you are in one of those events. epspecially if you have a professional teaching you

can you deny that it isn't an advantage... especially when compared to front wheel drive. btw, people set their cars up differently... and a lot of the time the handling is worsened due to this fact; cheap parts, poor alignment, etc.
besides, anyone who claims awd makes for bullet proof handling is an idiot. |

that was a crazy crash. The air that the rear end got!!! wow.
and that was not a noob mistake at all, its an instinct, like someone in a post way above mine said. One of my s2k friends crashed his badly trying to drift. He drifting in both lanes and he saw another car coming and hit the brakes which spun him right around of the road into a ditch comming damn close to rolling his car. |
