damn, I don't see how that co-pilot reads the notes when he's getting bounced all over the place, I'd be a puking fool trying to read while going through that type of distortion. I love to watch rally racing, but it does not get good coverage IMO. Also, why do the spectators and camera men stand so close to curves when they know damn well what can happen? death wishes maybe??lol

Rallying does actually get decent coverage, just not in the United States. Unless you look it up on the internet, might never even know that the US has several championships on going. The only rallying that gets proper coverage in the states is a little at the X-games.
But I'll tell you what, watching it on telly is absolutely nothing like watching it in real life. You gotta look for a rally close to where you live and just go and watch it. Then maybe you'll understand why people want to be so close to the cars.
With the WRC cars, you can feel the heat coming off of them. They shake the ground you stand on. You get splattered by the mud and dust. You get amazing photographs and video.
In truth, standing on the outside of a corner is pretty stupid. The inside of the corner is a little safer, but not necessarily. Safety regulations have become alot more stringent since the 80's when this video was made. Spectator sections are heavily regulated with marshalls everywhere.
There is also just a certain amount of trust you must have in the driver's ability not to crash.

I watch whenever the SPEED channel has it on, which is rare. I see what you are saying about standing to get good pics and to feel the cars themselves as they pass, but I enjoy my life and have a decent camara.....Zoom in FTW. No way you will catch me standing anywhere near that shit.

Now those were some crazy spectators... Especially considering that group B cars had this annoying tendency of being too fast for even the best drivers to handle. Spectators back in the 80's must have had a deathwish.

True... Thought it was relevant, and there's a reason I didn't post it in a new thread.
