I remember way back then its was my favorite car at the time until the escort cosworth came in late 92 early 93. Saw Juha Kankkunen there, great driver by the way. Notice the difference in driving style from back then to now. Much more skillful than now, where the car does everything for the driver!

i might agree with the first part of this statement since the cars were a lot more powerfull but how does the car do everything for the driver? does the wrc allow traction control? abs? or what?

Well, back in 1992 the cars didnt have more power than now, they just didnt have as good technology as now....yes the car does do more for the driver these days. Yes rally cars have very good ABS systems now, no traction control (lol thats stupid to even mention) but the fact that they dont need to clutch nor to take the hands off the steering wheel to shift gears tends to help, OR something you guys might not know is that in the old days whenever they would e-brake the car around hairpins they would have to clutch in and things like that. These days with the fancy differentials they dont even need to let off the gas when using the hand brake! Things like that tend to help the drivers.

In terms of hp yes, but current WRC have tons of torque for a 2.0l 4cyl, and some people say that the Xsara WRC last season was running around 330hp even w/ the 34mm air restrictors, but yeah, tecnologie has replaced driver input, but in terms of reaction times they are at Gr.B levels, and the current WRC beat the Gr.B times thru suspension and traction eficiency rather than power.

i find it so cheap that pure talent is disapearing, they try to stick too much technology in whatever man does, you forget why you're doing it in the first place...
