I think the truth is that a 911 is an easier car to launch. From what I have heard (never driven one) is that you take the RPMS to 4K, drop the clutch and hold on!

My friend has a '99 996 carrera 2. I drove it before he did at the dealership. Yes, its easy to launch, but its not something you want to do often:
a) nevermind an aftermkt "performance" clutch - the factory sachs cost $3 grand to change b) the transmission on the 996's and newer are factory sealed, meaning that if something goes wrong like a busted syncro, you have to replace the entire unit rather than rebuild. About $13K. He already has the syncros get notchy after 80k and is babying it from here on in. Quote:

I agree that you wouldn't want to do it often if it was yours. But if you work for a car rag or say a television show????? The race was poorly run, and as I said before with a competent driver the Z06 will wins everytime |

From what Ive seen, more than a few people own both a Z06 and a euro sports car rather than one over the other. Check out M5 forums, rennlist (porsche boards) etc. They can co-exist in the same garage.

^agreed although its not euro/us its jap/us hes from a local Z forum, hes got a turbo 350z and hes got a gutted zo6 with a roll cage and everything the ironically the 350 is faster in a streight line only because its got more grunt and the zo6 is faster on the road course because its gutted and personally i think that thers nothing wrong with that sweet set up
