I'm on a limited budget, because i'm about to go to college so I need to keep my money saved for paying off tution, anywayz, I own a 1990 Isuzu Impulse XS with a 1.6 DOHC 5spd, I just recently got the transmission rebuilt, I'm planning on intake, headers and exhaust, and some new tires and a little weight reduction to get it around 2200lbs, now I have around $600-$800 to spend after buying all that, now some people have told me I could piece together a very very low budget turbo kit, but I know the cheaper things are in the turbo world the more problems I will run into down the road, So i was thinking of just buying some Nitrous for my car, and run a 35hp and 50hp shot. Should I go with nitrous or boost!

I say go turbo. Nitrous runs out. Turbo is always there!
We do turbo kits on 240sx's all the time for about $1000. And you can get away with a much smaller turbo. One T25 from a 300Z twin turbo should be very cheap, like $100-$200. A cheap intercooler (mitsubishi starion) for $100-$200 and a manifold. get an adjustable wastegate that will go down to about 3-4lbs of boost and you should be good to go. The expensive part will be the manifold. Dunno how much one for your car runs... never seen one... but then again, I have never looked for one either ![]() |

Alright you primitive screw-heads, listen up. See this? This is my boomstick! It's a 12-gauge double-barreled Remington. S-Mart's top of the line. You can find this in the sporting goods department. That's right, this sweet baby was made in Grand Rapids, Michigan; retails for about one hundred nine, ninety-five. It's got a walnut stock, cobalt blue steel, and a hair trigger. That's right, shop smart, shop S-Mart! |

Not to slam on your car or anything but I would not spend any money on a turbo or nitrous for a isuzo anything. Go buy a real car, in the end you will save a ton of money.
Spending money on a turbo system for a isuzo motor thats just gonna fall apart anyway is useless and getting a 25hp shot of nitrous is pointless. I guess if I had to choose I would say get the nitrous, its alot cheaper and you can just take it all off if you don't want it anymore. But all jokes aside I would consider getting a different car to race.

this car is going to be my daily driver for college for the next 2 years so I have to make good use of it, and just to let you know Joe SS, my car has lots of potential, just go do a search on the isuzu impulse, it was the first AWD turbocharged car, before the EVO and WRX where even thought of. Any car has potential it's just about how much will power you have to be different and have a unique car, and not just one that's easy to tune and make fast, my car weighs 2200lbs I don't need much power to make it fast!

its all about the engine n suspension baby, doesnt matter what turd shell is on top, unless of course you plan on getting into aerodynamics n all. deffinitly boost if you know what you're doing, cause labor $$ is a waste.

Well do what you want man its your car, but i know i could go buy a car tommorow for like 3k all together and it would be much faster then the isuzu with all the thousands of dollars your spending on it. Its your call but like I said there are MUCH easier and WAY cheaper ways to have a fast car. JMO im sure you will tell me im wrong

JMO i know alot of kids that buy a car and begin modding it and before you know it you have spent a few thousand dollars and the car still might lose to a totally stock daily driver of someone else. Like I said, im not bashing on you, im just trying to point you in a cheaper and in the end a better direction.
