Default Need help modding L20B engine

Well before I go ahead and start modding the engine I got to plan it out. The goal is trying to mod as much as possible for rallys ,and be still under the Canadian rally regulations. So any force induction is unnaceptable. Real engine Hp I want is 150s but probably wont get it.

The engine is a Datsun/Nissan L series, 2 litre, 4 cyl. L20B

Common mods is upgrading the cams, piston head, crankshaft mapping, lightflywheel, webber carbs. increasing compression

If anyone know a cheap place for datsun L series engine mod parts i would also like to know.

Oh by the way this is for my Datsun 510/PA10 (NOT 1600/510)

McKinney Motorsport messes with those I think. I know they do a lot of 510 stuff.

They are pretty high on Skyline RB parts, so I dont know what you'll get for 5G's

I wished I could used my KA24de engine but sadly it wouldn't work because of the adjusted displacement exceeds 2400cc.

So are you stuck with an L20b or just 2.0L in particular?

If left with the L20b, your best bet is to find the L18 peanut chamber high-compression head (which can support a large cam), and dual DCOE or Mikuni induction (unless you have SU's from ZTherapy). The stock exhaust manifold flows just slightly less than a header, so don't worry too much about that. The L18 really is better suited for high-RPM racing though. I'd say look for an O.S Giken MAII head / crank / pistons combo, but that alone would probably be 10K.

However, if you can use any 2.0L N/A motor, get the Nissan FJ20. That thing SCREAMS. If by chance you live on the west coast, give Rebello Racing a visit (www.rebelloracing.com).

Fire any questions this way,
-Phil.

my engine limition is like this No force induction, adjusted discplacement can not be over 2400cc. How it is adjusted is mutipling the current cc depending on how many valves per cyl. 3valve * 1.1 4valve *1.15

FJ20 or SR20DE would be nice but Im having strange doubt. It really depends on how the L20B costing to upgrade. If it going to cost for sr20de or fj20 swap then im willing to swap. I will be to straying from the FJ20 series I know there lots of aftermarket but comparing with sr's, sr's have cheaper after- market assuming if FWD SR20de are compatible with RWD sr20de.

This just planning for this summer . Realistic timing for when im actually going to rallying the car is 2006 or 2007. I dont know when ill have actual spending for my hobbies.

Is that going in a datto 200b..

In Australia we have the Datto 120Y, 180B ,and 200B. And have a saying:

120Y-bother , 180B-****ed and 200B-****ter.

A worked 200B-****ter motors go well when worked tho, so no offence .

Aznflick:

SR20 may be your best bet.

Talk to Mario Lozano (TSR Fabrication) or Mike Spreadbury (Nissan Motorsport) if you want to know how much the swap and tune would cost.

An L20b can make a lot of power, but for a lot of money. L-series are like this on the whole. You can also take a NAPS-Z motor crank, stuff it in an L20b, and make a L22 engine.

i dont know if you get them over there but look for a 20xe engine made by vauxhall (gm) you could get a realistic 230bhp from this engine very easily with throttlebodies.

ah ok my mistake, im still not too sure on what engines you guys have but if it had to be nissan my choice would be an SR20 from a nissan almera GTI, which is the same as the sr20det but without the turbo. 150bhp standard i think and should more or less fit straight in.

EDIT: just read your previous post about the SR20 i would go for that one, very good engines
