Default Tacoma K&N

I have a K&N FIPK Cold air intake ordered for my 2000 Tacoma 3.4 4x4, I have recently heard some people are unhappy with the results. I would like to know if anyone can tell me what problems people have had with this kit?

Well, its basically just a cone air intake that you pay alot because it says K&N and there are ALOT of companies that do em also for alot cheaper, but the K&N'S bang for buck isnt great great, there are more expensive ones which you can wash all you want and they will last you super long, but its to consider,
they dont filter EVERYTHING and alot of people use paper filters which are almost free (compared to a K&N or other cone) and they provide a higher filtering level...
i never had the brand k&N

Many ppl overoil their k&n (or other similar type filters). The excess oil finds its way on to the mass air flow sensor wire - which is very sensitive - and throws off the readings, leading to loss of power.

If you happen to do this, you should clean the wire **VERY VERY** carefully (its fragile) with a qtip and electrical contact cleaner or rubbing alcohol.

Damn right, AMM's are so easy to burn, and alot of people mess them up by cleaning them like retards loll, also it is very important to clean the cone air filter, you can use Goo-Off or Gunk and hot water to rinse off
x2 on the qtip n rubbing Boose

Failure of the AMM can mess up the readings to the point you can grill other sensors sometimes. An most often is the reason of the check engine light!
