I did the sweetest free mod today!!!!
 
So i am reading about intake stuff on s2ki.com and i see a bunch of referals to the noise of having the intake lid off. Everyone compares intake sound to the stock airbox without the lid. So, i research it more and then i got out for the drive. All i did was take off the intake cover and throw it in the trunk.

IT IS INCREDIBLE!!!!!
My car sound 20x meaner!!!
The only downside is that i actually lost HP..... :rant:

But its ok because the sound just purrs. it really is a totally different car. I wanted to put it back on to feel the power difference and i could be it just sounded boring. (im talking 5-10 HP loss) its bad but fun!!

I just wanted to tell you guys about this and i wanted to ask if there is any potential hazard to doing this because i am keeeping it off now.

dirt getting in, that why when u change the intake its a Cone but has the filter
, not sure though

well the lid is to stop unwanted sh1t from going in, and since you have a loss of power that means MORE air is going into your engine with gas in the same time, and your computer isnt set for that difference, im just a bit confused on you losing power since more air goes in iot makes a Leaner mix so you should have MORE power
and when you change the intake usually its not in a lidded box its a cone but its filter material all around to prevent thin sh1t from getting in while letting more air in

its loosing power because the engine compartment is like 100 degrees and that temp is now exposed to the filter quite abit more than with the lid on. (i believ)

by simple logic warmer the air going IN better your performance should be... i mean you'd put a hairdrier on cold in the intake it would give a bit of boost, but if you'd give it on HOT it would give even more, the combustion would just be better
in this case temperature has nothing to do im almost 100% sure

I'm not real sure but i think s2k is right, because the hotter the air the less it expands meaning the less compression. turbos and cold air intakes force cold air because you can get more dense cold air and the colder the air the more it Expands causing more compression and the more compression means the bigger the explosion which in turn causes more power... i think

.i always thought that they need cold air in the air filters not hot air . lol next thing ull see is the cold air feed bolted on the mani pumpin hot air in the intake. :iono: :loser1:

why do they have COLD air feeds and come with heat sheilds if they like hot air? just the same as a intercoolers. :confused:
