Cold air is denser that out air; cold air = more power. You wont notice it at first though, the motor needs to warm up and you need to driv it around awhile. Second, from Honda the intake and engine were built with eachother in mind. The intake box was built with a volume that matches the stock motors cubic inch. Taking the lid off throws all that out of wac (air fuel, Etc...). Thats why you lost power. If you were to get an after market cold air intake, they are built with that volume in mind (open filter but bigger and or longer tubing). It does sound cool though! VVVVRRRRRRUUUUUUUPPP!!!!

this time came around they took off the air intake and with lock tight and steel straps installed Hair driers over the intake, on cold the fokken scooter would lag as hell, on hOT the tank would Empty so fast as HE would FLY AWAY on boost (it was plugged in parralel on a larger battery), accelerating like 3-4 times as fast as he would STOCK (even though it had the extra weight of a car battery) and they had polished engines (inside) and sanded down pistons (for more gas) explain please, i'D like to understand cause you have it all down so well to burn me down and make fun of me, but explain that to me cause i would REALLY REALLY love to understand

usually with an aftermarket cold air system, theres a wall that seperates the filter from the rest of the bay, and it usually seals with the hood when closed. takin off the lid prolly caused more hot air to be suck through

the power loss is because its sucking in hot air with the lid off. and i think ur rc engine works the same as anyother engine the colder the air the better it will run.
