mitsubishi oz switch to evo

yes i have a 2005 mitsubishi oz rally, i am wanting to do a swap and put the evo motor in it, is it at all possible and what would i need to do.

I say you work your ass off and pay for an actual evo. The 2005 mitsubishi oz rally doesn't even look like it. isn't yours front wheel drive? if so, then it's gonna be a pain in the tail to swap the motor and make it 4wD, unless all you want is the motor with the same setup. You might have to change the motor mounts compute, maybe even use an eclipse transmission or somethng .

will a eclipse tranny work with the evo motor? what year and model or does it even matter.

Well the old Eclipse GSX has the same motor as the Evo, but it's front wheel drive so im guessing that transmission is easier to fit

Try again.

The GSX was all wheel drive; the GS-T was front. Both use the same engine (4G63) as the Evo, so pick up the tranny from the GS-T.

ok, yea i meant that crap, the GST. Anyways, my whole point is that it's easier to buy a real evo than to make it out of the regular lancer

i totally agree. its not like youre swapping honda motors. go for the real thing. they look better anyway.

aww did i really say that..hmm sorry i was bored, anyways unless your willing to spend thousands into pretty much...nothing,(11-15k worth of labor
+parts) alot isnt it?how about $5500-6000 on a turbo and some internal stock thingys that people say when referring to parts in an engine basically all im trying to say is dont rape your wallet and keep the 4g93 or 4g69 (whatever edition got)and upgrade it

I think its possible but it would be a waste of time and money i say trade ur lancer in while it is still a current year car and get like a used 2003 evo

my friend with a 3G ecpilse (4G64) same motor as you,turbos his and hes not complaing. the 2.4L give you good turbo possiblities. he can run 8 PSI with stock everything and he got fuel computer for it and blah blah blah stock internals and he can run 12..witch it plenty of power..youll have no problem taking on stock evo's with that. the turbo kit is form maxrev..i duno the site youll have to look it up..but its a direct bolt on. with a 5.5 PSI spring. i helped him put it on...its a good well made kit..and i think it runs 3,100$$

i saw one at the races 2 weekends ago in salt lake city. my friend in his civic was out classed and he was like "yea..ill race da OZ"..it was no oz i knew it wasent..but it hought id let him figure it out on his own LOL

I have read quite a few articles that say the 4G64 is an excellent motor. One company even swapped it into an EVO to get the bigger displacement so they can obviously take a lot if the switched out the 4G63. Plus the the 64 it's is already set up for a FWD application.
