Was hit by a car the other night. Helping his sister with a tire issue.


Smithfield man struck by car in East Greenwich | WPRI 12 Eyewitness News


Wishing him a speedy recovery.


EAST GREENWICH, R.I. (WPRI) — A Smithfield man was rushed to the hospital overnight after he was struck by a vehicle in East Greenwich.

According to police, Ross Edwards was hit in the area of 98 Main Street at about 12:45 a.m. Police said he was walking back to his car after assisting his sister, who had an issue with her tire.

Edwards, 31, was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with serious head injuries. Police did not have an update about his condition.

The incident remains under investigation. Lt. Jeremy Fague said it appears to be an “accident,” adding that speed and alcohol did not appear to be factors.
