I didn't really read it properly, but does this mean that money hungry faggot **** eaters are going to make people pay them to subscribe to their channel?
So like I can make people pay to subscribe to me? That's the stupidest piece of ****ing shit idea in YouTube's history. Edit: Never mind, just read it properly. It's just like for real TV shows and such, not normal people. Basically like how they have movie rental on YouTube which nobody ever uses. But then again ”We’ll be rolling paid channels out more broadly in the coming weeks as a self-service feature for qualifying partners.", I hope channels like MotorTrend and other people like that who have YouTube shows and which have a shit load of subscribers aren't what they call "qualifying partners" ? They just want more ****ing money which they're never going to need ever, and just take it from the poor who actually work hard for their money. At the end of the day, the money we work hard for goes to money greedy businesses like Google, Apple, and etc. While they have billions of dollars just sitting there in their company's bank account doing nothing, we only have thousands and struggle to survive. |

You don't get it, this isn't about youtube putting people's uploaded content behind a paywall and banking all the money, this is about uploaders like Vice, Redbull, The Onion, Jenna Marbles, Dom Mazzetti, Drive etc who produce high quality content that people really really want being able to monetize that.
It's basically letting people create their own cable channels that you can buy into easily and for much less than a cable subscription. I'll use an example that I'd talked about with my stepfather who's an excellent finish carpenter but has seen a dramatic downturn in business over the last few years. We had spoken about creating a site full of how-to videos giving good in depth content teaching people how to do carpentry projects ranging from easy shit like birdhouses to complicated stuff like nice stair railings. Before this he had limited options. 1.) he could sell his videos to Ehow for crap money and own none of the rights to them and make a couple bucks. 2.) he could try to strike out on his own and build a web site doing all the branding, marketing, advertising himself and dedicating hundreds of hours to something that would still get buried by ehow and wikihow and home depot and lowes. 3.) he could put all the videos on youtube himself and hope that he makes a bit off advertising revenue This paid youtube channel combines #s 2 and 3 into something that makes a lot better sense for content creators. You can test the waters with traditional youtube channels and then if it turns out you have something people really want, you can create your own paid channel and potentially make real money off of it. |

Well I'm subscribed to some high quality people and I'm sure as **** not going to pay for it. YouTube should stay the free video service which it already is.
Every since Google bought it, they've been ****ing with it, and because of these ****tards I probably won't be able to watch my favourite channels anymore. 50% of those 99 cents per subscription is going to go to Google, they won't add the feature if they don't get anything back themselves. They saw the opportunity to make money by making people pay for subscriptions, that's the only reason they're adding it. For their own benefit, not the uploaders. They couldn't give a shit about the uploaders. |

No easy solution. You upload full length whatever, Expect to get poached and re-uploaded.
Shit rolls down hill. Once the lower people on the totem pole can charge on youtube. Game over. Can't implement a charge on viewers after 7 years. Except the Pay per movies. Who the fuk pays to watch movies on that site anyway. Shit roll down hill. We pay for youtube in many ways as is. Google Searches and advertisements, Youtube searches and advertisements. Fuk you google.

When are they going to start charging 10 cents per video watched?
The average user watches over 100,000 videos in their lifetime so that would be $10,000 each person for Google's pocket. Genius idea! ![]() Last edited by SL1DE; 12 May 2013 at 02:10 am. |

It isn't about that. It's about Google who will end up taking 50% or more of the money, otherwise they wouldn't have even thought of it.
