Default New Truck Choices HELP ME

and by new truck... most likely 10-20year old daily driver...

got a few hundred bucks. selling a boat motor today. and got a few more paychecks coming later in the week or next. The FailMobile wont last much longer 300kmiles. havent changed the oil in about 15k. it had slammed into back of a van at 45mph before i got it.. i beat the damage out with a hammer and comealong. since then its been jumped. broke. fan through radiator. now got a nigg3r rigged bmw radiator in it. everything rattles. stalls out constantly, every piston knocks basically .... so i feel it may be time to put a down payment on a new (to me truck) preferably 4x4 base as its going to be a hunting truck... so sorry rob no xj this time. dont want deer/wild hog/bear carcass riding with me behind my seat. i need a BED.

4x4 not necicary. but ill have to atleast have descent tires. looking at rangers, always liked em. there ford etc... ive had enough nissan trucks, and they've treated me well but.... seriously im done with them jap trucks. toyotas are a lil expensive for my taste... any other ideas?

things needed...

-descent offroad capability
-4-6cyl 17+mpg
-fuel injected
-reliability.... meaning that i atleast have hope that its gonna run most of the time... until i buy something NEW ill never know for sure
-bench seat..... make things easier with my lady....
-cup holders

last 2 not particularly imporant, can work around those flaws

get a 96 f-150 with the straight 6 and the 4speed manual tranny with overdrive and 8' bed. had one exactly like that loved it probably one of the best trucks ive ever driven. had almost 300k miles still did burnouts and moved decently quick. was only 2x4 but im sure 4x4 wouldnt be hard to find

Those 300cid Ford engines are tough, one of the best 6 bangers i have ever seen, the thing can last forever too and it has tons of TQ, the truck wont be fast though.

I would go with the Ford regardless.

i agree on the ford 4.9 being one of the best running motors around. got a few buddies with 90's model f150's and a 2 78-79 f150's both with 300's Run Great. last forever... but research ive done shows they average 12-15mpg at the best...

deffo dont need a big truck. small trucks are probably more likely be what i look for. as for the work im doing. involves alot of driving.
