do u think the police or government is reading peoples text messages, do all them really get saved that u send for years, i was jus thinken bout that shit would be kind of fucjed up

I believe the NSA can monitor international phone calls and emails without warrants if they think you have any ties to terrorist activity so I would assume that text messages are under the same umbrella. As far as texts being saved I would think that they are stored on your service providers server(s) for x amount of time then deleted or moved elsewhere.

my ex gf's job was to monitor phone calls made by certain criminals, not exactly sure on details but thats what she told me at least lol

I'm sure that people that are on a "watch" list get monitored. I am also guessing that certain key words like "bomb" or "Al Queda" and others set off a red flag system and that SMS or email gets looked at. But to monitor ALL texts would next to impossible IMO. I know that my sister sends and receives over 200 texts ( SMS ) per day and that is just one of how many millions of teens and others texting at the same rate?

If you don't send incriminating texts it shouldn't be a big deal. Perhaps coordinating drug deals using text messages isn't the best idea?

my thoughts exactly, i don't think they look at each text message but i think some words get red flagged for further inspection.

i saw on the news that Blackberries (the smart phone) have the toughest encryption to get through on emails or texts, and that criminals prefer the blackberry for crime related use. police are looking to change that, but it also acts as something safe for business users because they dont want to leak any information.
